Mississippi Beauty Schools by Program

Are you thinking about enrolling in a  Mississippi cosmetology program?  To help you take the first step into the beauty industry, BeautySchools.com has compiled all of the information you need to know to make an informed decision on which school you ultimately choose to complete!  Before you receive a cosmetology license in Mississippi, you must meet the following educational requirements established by the Mississippi State Board of Cosmetology.

  • Cosmetologist:  1,500 training hours
  • Cosmetology Instructor:  Current license + 750 training hours with 2 years of experience or 2,000 hours if you have less than 2 years experience
  • Barber:  1,500 training hours
  • Manicurist: 350 training hours
  • Esthetitician: 60 training hours
  • Esthetician Instructor: Current license + 600 training hours with 2 years of experience or 1,000 training hours with less than two years experience

The license needs to be renewed every two years. Continued education is not required unless you are a master cosmetologist. In this case, you will need 16 hours of classes in the two years.
