Nail Technician Licensing Requirements in Washington
In the state of Washington, nail technicians must attend a licensed school in the first step of the licensing process. To obtain a license, nail technicians must also complete 600 hours of training and pass the Washington state board of cosmetology board examinations. Exams can be taken in Vietnamese, Spanish, or English, and training hours can be substituted with 800 internship hours.
Nail technicians moving to the state of Washington can also transfer licenses from other states under certain conditions. With a current license in another state, passing scores on the practical and written examinations from that state, an application, and a license fee, nail technicians can obtain a license in the state of Washington.
Nail technicians will be required to renew their licenses in Washington every two years. Continuing education credits and re-examination are not currently required, but renewal license fees do apply.
