Cosmetologist Licensing in Utah

The Utah Board of Cosmetology requires that individuals seeking a cosmetology license complete 2,000 hours of coursework, instruction and credit hours. Those who wish to become a barber will need to complete 1,000 hours of this training. For the individual who wants to become an esthetician, he or she should complete 600 hours of training. Nail technicians should complete a total of 300 hours of training and coursework.

A cosmetology license must be renewed at least once every two years in Utah. The cost to renew a license is $52. Cosmetologists do not need to complete any continuing education credits in order to renew their licenses.
