In a course for electrolysis in TN, you’ll learn about dermatology, which is the study of the skin. You’ll learn the growth patterns of hair and about hypertrichosis (the excess growth of hair). In addition, you’ll be taught about anatomy and physiology. You’ll learn the proper language to use in regards to permanent hair removal and the equipment used. Overview of Electrolysis Licensing in Tennessee

In “The Volunteer State,” you’re required to become licensed via the Electrolysis Registry, which is part of Tennessee’s Department of Health. In order to obtain your license, you must first complete a training program. The program must be at least 600 hours in length. Of those 600 hours, 175 of them must be in theory and 425 of them must be in clinical practice. One school that has an approved program is the Tennessee Institute of Electrology. After you finish your program, you must take an exam. Tennessee or receive endorsement from another state that you’re licensed in. Renewal will be required and can be done 120 days prior to the date of expiration.
