Overview of Electrolysis Licensing in Oregon

Oregon requires that electrologists have a license in order to practice in the state. Electrologists must complete a minimum of 600 hours in an approved electrolysis school. The Oregon Health Licensing Agency also administers a written and practical exam that students must pass. Every two years, students must also obtain at least 15 continuing education credits. To become an electrologist instructor, there are additional written and practical exams that must be completed.

In Oregon, the BLS states that the average salary for electrologists is about $42,000 a year. This salary is on the higher end of the spectrum based on the national average. This means that an electrologist who creates his or her own practice may be able to earn $50,000 to $60,000 a year.
