Oklahoma Electrolysis Training Programs

You’ll begin training in “The Sooner State,” with an introduction to electrology. You’ll learn methods that are most recent in relation to removing hair on both a temporary and a permanent basis. The curriculum will cover subjects like anatomy and physiology, histology, dermatology, cytology and microbiology. You’ll also need to take classes such as psychology, immunology and ethics. Throughout your training in OK, you’ll learn about thermolysis as well as techniques for removing hair via laser. You’ll learn how to conduct a treatment using a single needle and multiple needles.

Overview of Electrolysis Licensing in Oklahoma

You must be at least 21 years of age to practice as an electrolysis technician. According to the Oklahoma Medical Board, you must complete a bachelor’s degree in order to become a licensed electrologist. The program of study must be approved by the Board. Once training is complete, you must finish an internship to learn on-job skills before you venture out to work on your own. Then, you’ll be eligible to take a test given by the Board. You’ll be required to renew your license annually before the 31st of December of each year.

Job and Employment Outlook for Those in Electrolysis in Oklahoma

You can work in a medical facility that offers electrolysis procedures. For instance, many cosmetic surgeons offer electrolysis as a service. This particular field is expected to grow, notes the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS). In fact, there will be a 25-percent increase in jobs from 2010 until 2020. The BLS classifies electrologists as skincare specialists, who on average earn about $20,550 per year. The top 90 percent of earners make about $40,000 per year.
