Massage Therapy Licensing Requirements in New Mexico

The Massage Therapy Board of New Mexico has put forth an hour requirement that all students must complete before receiving a massage therapy license. After completing 650 hours of coursework and instruction, students may then register to take one of the national examinations offered. These exams are the MBLEx or the NCETMB. There is also a requirement that massage therapists obtain 16 continuing education credits every two years to keep up with the latest safety standards in New Mexico.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that the average salary for massage therapists in New Mexico is about $46,800. This is higher than the national average salary of $40,350.
