Cosmetologist License Requirements in New Jersey
The New Jersey State Board of Cosmetology requires that you attend a licensed cosmetology school in order to receive your license. You will need to also pass the written examinations that are offered by the New Jersey State Board of Cosmetology upon your successful completion of a program. To obtain a cosmetologist or hairstyling license, you will need to complete 1,200 hours of instruction and training. An esthetician license will require that you complete 600 hours of instruction and training.
You will need to renew a cosmetologist license every two years in New Jersey. The cost of renewing a license is $60.
