Nail Technician Licensing Requirements in Kentucky
To be licensed in the state of Kentucky, nail technicians must have a minimum of 600 training hours. The training can be completed through an apprenticeship. The minimum education required to be licensed as a nail technician in Kentucky is a high school diploma. Once training has been completed and the education requirement is met, nail technicians in Kentucky must pass a state issued licensing examination, administered by the Kentucky State Board of Hairdressers and Cosmetologists. Additional requirements also apply for applicants from out of state, salon owners, and nail technology instructors. After initialing receiving a license, nail technicians are not required to maintain continuing education in order for license renewal. However, licenses must be renewed each year and a renewal fee does apply.
