Overview of Florida Esthetician License Requirements

Florida esthetics schools provide training on the science of skin care and the art of applying treatments to improve skin appearance and tone. Students learn to manage skin problems, and they learn how to apply cosmetics for clients. Students complete a 260-hour program of education in esthetics before taking a written and practical test to become licensed in Florida. The Florida Board of Cosmetology issues licenses once all requirements have been met. Estheticians are called facial specialists in Florida, although the two terms are generally equivalent.

The average salary for facial specialists in Florida is $29,650 before tips. Salaries may be higher in popular tourist cities, and estheticians have many opportunities to increase their income through tips and bonuses.
