Education Requirements for Cosmetologists in Hawaii

Hawaii Cosmetology License Requirements

The subjects you cover in cosmetology school are part of the testing process in Hawaii, a crucial component of becoming a licensed cosmetologist. Once you have completed your training or apprentice hours, you can start the rest of the application process, which is outlined below:

• $20 application fee
• Testing administered by ProMetric
• Check payable to Commerce and Consumer Affairs
• $40 temporary permit fee (may pay both at once with a single check of $60)
• 1800 training hours or 3600 apprenticeship hours accepted for licensure
• May apply for temporary permit if you wish to work while you are waiting for your standard license

Requirements for Renewing Your Cosmetology License in Hawaii

Currently, the Hawaii Board of Barbering and Cosmetology does not require any continuing education units for renewing cosmetologists. However, remember that continuing education is a great way to learn new skills, attract new clients, and network with others in the industry.
