Idaho Barber License and Training Requirements

Required Barbering Courses in Idaho Barbering Schools

Barbering is one of the fastest growing specialties in cosmetology, with more and more men focusing on their appearance all the time! At Idaho barber colleges, you can learn about classic and modern trends that today’s clients ask for. To work as a barber, you’ll need to meet the standards of the Idaho Board of Barber Examiners.

They have two levels of licensure for barbers. Regular barbers need 900 hours of training before becoming licensed. Barber stylists need 1,800 hours of training. Barber stylists can do the same tasks as a barber, but they are also qualified to do chemical hair care procedures. The chemical procedures listed in the barbering courses below are only mandatory for barber styling students.

Idaho Barber Training and License Requirements

As you get close to the end of your education, you can start the process of applying for a barber license in Idaho. You have to take a written test and a practical test to get your license, and both go through DL Roope. They send your scores to the Board of Barber Examiners, at which point you receive your initial ID barbering license.

Idaho Barbering License Specifics

  • Testing costs: Testing fees set by DL Roope
  • Accepted payment methods: Credit card, money order, or cashier’s check
  • License/application fees: $25 licensing fee
  • Tests administered by DL Roope

There are many benefits that come along with a stringent licensing process like the one used in Idaho. It ensures that everyone meets the same standards before earning a license, so it’s more difficult for untrained applicants to weaken the reputation of the beauty industry.

When the beauty industry is held to such high standards, it’s easier for clients to trust stylists and give them a chance. This is especially helpful for you in the early stages of your career, when you’re still making a name for yourself and building your personal reputation.

Requirements for Renewing Your Barber License in Idaho

Idaho has stricter renewal requirements than many other states. To keep working as a barber, you have to renew your license every year. Your renewal date is based on your original date of licensure. With your renewal application, you must submit a fee of $25.

Idaho, like many other states, does not have any continuing education requirements for barbers. However, attending continuing education events is a great way to keep up on changes in the beauty industry and offer more services to your clients. Through your place of employment, your barbering school, or local beauty supply stores, you may be able to get access to low-cost training events that teach you new skills.

If you’re ready to take the leap and attend barber college, take this chance to learn more about barbering courses in your area.
