You must attend a school that is approved by your state to provide training in the discipline you want to practice. Check with the school and the state board to be sure that your program of study will prepare you for any applicable state licensure.

Overview of Nail Technician Schools in Oklahoma

Some of the course also involves Salon Development and Cosmetology Law which will make the student understand rules, regulations, business administration, insurance professional ethics, hygiene, public health, professionalism and shop management. Tuition can vary between $5,000 to $9,000 and often times it is good to ask if books, materials, nail kits, and aprons are included in the cost for the class. Most schools that were asked about their tuition admitted it can cost less than $5,000 to get your course training. Once this course is complete you can qualify to take the Nail Technician examination which is given by The Oklahoma State Board of Cosmetology.

Nail Technician Licensing Requirements in Oklahoma

– Complete 600 hours of course work or equivalent number of credit hours
– Students must pass a written and practical exam
– Is over the age of 16
– And has completed the High School equivalent of the eighth grade

REQUIREMENTS FOR A TECHNICIAN INSTRUCTOR

– Must have a current Oklahoma Manicurist License
– Complete 1000 hours of study, or 500 is acceptable if 2 years related license experience
– Pass a written and practical exam
– Hold a High School Diploma or General Education Development Certificate
– Is over the age of 16

The term of license for both is one year and required to renew on the last day of your birthday month annually.

Manicurist and Pedicurist salaries can vary, depending on the state, between $18,000 to $20,000 a year. A majority of Nail Technicians opt to work part-time instead of full-time.
