Massage Therapy Licensing Requirements in Ohio

Licensing in Ohio has been around since 1916. In fact, Ohio was the first state to offer certification in massage. As of 2013, applicants for licensure must complete a Board-approved program that is at least nine months in duration. The course must be at least 750 clock hours of both practical and clinical training. You’ll receive education related to hygiene, ethics and the actual practice of massage. If you did not complete your training in Ohio, you must have finished a program that is similar in nature to one in OH. All eligible potential massage therapists must take the Federation of State Massage Therapy Boards’ Massage and Bodywork Licensing Ex (MBLEx).
