Overview of Electrolysis Licensing in New Mexico

In New Mexico, there is a license requirement that electrologists must fulfill. Electrologists must obtain at least 600 hours in an approved electrology program. Applicants must complete an examination too. The New Mexico Board of Barbers & Cosmetologists is currently the licensing authority in New Mexico. Applicants must be at least 17 years old and have a 10th grade education level.

Job and Employment Outlook for Those in Electrolysis in New Mexico

The BLS reports that the average salary of electrologists in the state is about $38,880 a year. The BLS expects that there will be a 22 percent increase in the salary that electrologists currently earn in the state. The AEA has also reported that electrolysis technicians can earn up to $50,000 a year. If electrolysis technicians work in private offices, then they have the potential to earn a much higher salary that will exceed the $38,000 average in New Mexico.
