You must attend a school that is approved by your state to provide training in the discipline you want to practice. Check with the school and the state board to be sure that your program of study will prepare you for any applicable state licensure.

This includes creating course curriculum and lectures, grading student course work and preparing you to lead lectures and demonstrations in the classroom. Licensing Requirements for Cosmetology Instructors in New Hampshire

In New Hampshire, you can work as a cosmetology instructor if you have the required work experience, training or work experience combined with training. The New Hampshire Board of Barbering Cosmetology and Esthetics issues license for both cosmetologists and beauty instructors. In order to get your license to teach, you must first hold a state license. You can get a state license to practice cosmetology by completing 1500 hours of training in a board approved beauty program, pass your written and practical exams and pass the New Hampshire state board exam.

Once you have obtained your New Hampshire cosmetology license you have several options for becoming a licensed instructor.  You can decide to complete 800 hours of instructor training, or complete one year of licensed cosmetology work combined with 500 hours of instructor training.  Your third option is to complete eight years of licensed experience with no additional training.

The fee for cosmetology instructor licensure is $250 and you must renew every two years in addition to completing 28 hours of board approved continuing education.  The cost to renew is $55.
